In design I strive for clarity of storytelling that not only focuses the viewer’s eye to the onstage composition, but more importantly to the story and its inherent themes unfolding in the playing space before them. I believe, both in practice and in education, this is achieved with a clear analysis and understanding of a text that takes shape through the process of research, pre-visualization, and most importantly collaboration with the director and fellow designers.
